Alfie (1994)

"Moral of the story. No good deed goes unpunished." Alfie

A remake of a Michael Cane and Shelley Winters movie of the same title (Alfie 1966).
Jude Law as a womanizing limo driver with an infectious charm. Great role for Law. This is similar plot to the original version of the movie, but it has a certain updated fun 90's twist to all the relationships. It has a new 90's musical soundtrack too with some tributes to the original Cher version of the title song sung by Joss Stone. I think the soundtrack would be really good although I have never heard it.

The messaging via the billboards in the background throughout the movie are used to give the movie a little more depth. The billboards working along with the word of the day calendar are always being used to try to keep it more intellectual. I think without these aspects this movie would be just a tame PG-13 smut film.

If you look deeply into this movie for great content you won't find it. For this reason I can not find any reason to give it better rating than In my Collection. As part of my wifes Jude Law collection to be exact. It is a good movie worth seeing, but it has no great moments to make it stand out above all the rest.

This movie gets a rating of: In my collection (click to see rating system)

Questions to ponder while you watch this movie:
Do all good deeds really never go unpunished?
What's going to happen with the rest of your life?
What's he got, better than me?
What have I got, really?

The true question ends up being: Is a plot full of "questionable" content really a plot at all? Or is this movie just "full" of questions? Do you know what I mean?
