Airheads (1994)

Airhead –noun
Slang. a scatterbrained, stupid, or simple-minded person; dolt.

This movie is full of scatterbrained dolts making stupid simple-minded decisions which makes for a very funny plot. Three musicians hold up a radio station to try to get their single played on the air. It at least lives up to the title.

OK so that being said... more important than the plot ... the cast. Chris Farely in the early years of his wacky animated comedy. The second in a very long line of Adam Sandler movies. A small goof comedy role from Michael "Kramer" Richards and even a small revival role from an 80's classic Breakfast Club (Judd Nelson) playing Jimmie Wing. Almost forgot a cameo voice appearance from Mike Judge calling in to the radio station as Beavis and Butthead. What a cast! Knowing what I know now if I only knew back then.... or so the saying goes. This leads me to the greatest question I have about this movie. Was it this movie or Going Overboard that really catapulted so many of these careers.

For a movie that is based on a new band getting it's big break, you would think there would be good new upcoming music. But most of it was fairly recognizable music of the times like 4 Non-blondes, Anthrax, and some older Ramones (I think). And the original music written for the movie wasn't that good either.

So this is a movie that is the great beginnings of things to come. If you watch it with a little sense of nostalgia it makes it that much more fun to watch 15-20 years later. I would almost say this movie has gotten better with age.

I will fully admit that the sole reason that I own this is because for my Adam Sandler collection. So that being said:

This movie gets a rating of: In my collection (click to see rating system)

Questions to ponder while watching this movie?
Reel to reel really?
Nevermind don't think to hard about this movie!
